Vista Use is *Finally* On the Rise

Yes, Windows Vista has had its share of ups and downs, but it looks like adoption rates are finally on the rise. Good news for Microsoft. Likely bad news for tech support centers around the world. According to a new study by CDW, 48% of 772 IT employees in a decision making position are now using or evaluating Vista.

Linux and OS X More Buggy Than Windows?

According to a new study by Secunia, the amount of security related bugs in Red Hat Linux (not including Fedora) and Firefox outnumbered the amount in comparable Microsoft products. But does that really make Microsoft’s products more secure?

Time Capsule v. The Competition: Price Comparisons

The MacBook Air may have been the big highlight of Steve Jobs’ Macworld 2008 keynote–but I think the real winner was Time Capsule. It looks like a fantastic product for those of us who want to back up our data via a wireless network. The product’s design is attractive and simple, and it packs quite a few features for what seems, at first glance, to be a fair price point. But is it really the best price for wireless backups?

OmniFocus Your Life

The Omni Group have been purveyors of fine software for OS X for years. Who’d have thought that you could actually get people to pay for a web browser? Business practices aside, today they released a brand new, if not boringly named, Getting Things Done program, OmniFocus. Don’t let the company’s obsession with the word “Omni” dissuade you–this one fantastic piece of software.

Liven Up TextMate with Themes

TextMate has made a name for itself as the text editor / development environment for OS X. It has a lot of power and an impressive array of features, but it’s default interface needs a bit of, shall we say, touch-up. And that’s where a new site called TM Themes comes in–to help you bring […]

Amazon Software Downloads Arrive

Much like many online shoppers, I tend to buy the majority of my commercial software from Amazon. Their prices are fair, their shipping speed decent, and their quality of service is generally top notch. But now there is a whole new reason to buy software from Amazon–they’re offering software for download. Immediate delivery right to […]
