Liven Up TextMate with Themes

TextMate has made a name for itself as the text editor / development environment for OS X. It has a lot of power and an impressive array of features, but it’s default interface needs a bit of, shall we say, touch-up. And that’s where a new site called TM Themes comes in–to help you bring your own sense of style to the most impressive text editor on the Mac.

Although TextMate allows you to change the look of the program to your whims, such customization takes time. Time that you, as an up and coming developer or even a text editing hobbyist, don’t have much of. So instead of spending your valuable time making TextMate look how you want it to, why not just download a theme like you would download a GUIKit for ShapeShifter or a new visualization for iTunes?

TM Themes, while still in its infancy, has a vast array of themes–many of which are unique and well thought out. Light themes, dark themes, they’re all there. Blue, green, white, black, there is something for everyone. And if you have no idea how to install themes into TextMate, there’s even a handy tutorial, available in text or video, to show you the ropes.

Be sure to check out my personal favorites, Argonaut and Midnight.
