I love these ironic twists. Google Docs and Zoho Writer have been the main competitors for online word processors for some time now, with both fighting it out to see who reigns supreme for this potentially lucrative market. It would be a big blow to one side or the other based on who was able to take their word processor out of the online only arena and into the desktop realm. And Zoho Writer came out on top yesterday morning - using Google’s own new Google Gears functionality. All you need to do to take advantage of Zoho (online and off) is sign up for an account and then visit Google’s Google Gears site and download the Firefox or Internet Explorer extension. Makes a great alternative to Microsoft Word or some of the free word processors out there, and it works for Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows.
