Although Apple recently updated a few of its computers, the Mac Mini and the iMac, only the iMac was able to make it to Apple Store shelves with a completely new design. Fans of the Mac Mini found that their tiny computers were stuck with that same, boring, gray and white box. But if there’s anything good about gray and white, it’s that those colors make an excellent primer for those with the desire to apply their own coat of paint.
And that’s exactly what the guys at ColorWare have done with the new Mac Minis. Given them a much needed coat of paint in almost any color you can wrap your mind around. ColorWare has had a long history of offering aftermarket paint jobs on (mostly Apple) computers and portable media players, and they’ve just gotten their hands on the new and improved Mac Minis. Although the custom paint job does cost an extra hundred bucks on top of the price of the computer itself, just think of the envy all your Windows PC-using friends will feel when they see your ultra-stylish, ultra-tiny computer system.
It looks to be a great deal for those folks who don’t like anything they purchase to retain the stock look. I just can’t imagine spending an extra hundred dollars on a fresh coat of paint - even though that midnight blue does look damn good.
