My Apple laptop is missing a couple of critical keys. The forward and backward, play, pause, and stop buttons that are usually found on most laptops. Yet, for some odd reason, these necessary keys are absent on my MacBook. Yeah, I know it would cut down on that hip, modern style and minimalistic design of my computer - but I want an easy way to control my music without always having to pop open the main iTunes window or learn some fancy keyboard shortcut.
So one of the first things that I downloaded for my new Apple was a tiny program called ByteController - and I absolutely love it.
Honestly, what is there not to love about this program? It’s free. It has a tiny footprint on my menu bar. It comes with customizable skins. It integrates with Growl. It’s just great.
Hell, I can even use customizable hot keys to control playback if I want.
So what could possibly be wrong with ByteController? Well, this is nitpicking, but I can’t think of anything else: there are not quite as many skins available as are offered by its competition. That’s it.
If you own an Apple, do yourself a favor and download this puppy right now.
